318 Yuuuu-um!

We hit up our favorite Mexican place tonight... It may not be the best ever, but we've been eating here for twenty years! (That makes me sound really old!)
We love their salsa and home made chips, especially their flour tortilla chips! The LT was smart enough to ask for a basket of just the flour ones.
SO delish!!!

301 Problem Solved

Found this at the commissary today.
Genius.
We used them for dinner and they were perfect.
Really though, I like the picture of what life was like before them.
Oh, first world problems...

274 Danger

A boy scout came by last year selling caramel corn. I bought a bag to be supportive and promptly ate the whole thing.
Not at once mind you, but I did leave it in my car so I could snack on it while running errands. (and maybe so no one else would find it.)
The LT answered the door when a different boy scout and his dad came by this year. He chatted with them for a while and then told me he'd ordered a bag.
They came back tonight and I was surprised to see that he had ordered 2 bags.
I may or may not have eaten half of one bag while typing this post...

I did.

259 Worth It

We ventured up to Atlanta today for some birthday shopping. I was delighted to learn that Atlanta has a Nothing Bundt Cakes there and it was imperative that we procure a cake from there. (I can't bake my own birthday cake, right?)
It was delicious. Perfection.
It honestly made it feel like home was a little closer.

250 Like I Needed a Reason

The LT offered cookies to someone in his office as a thank you. The Cpt declined, saying "Na, no worries" to which the LT replied, "My wife was going to make these pumpkin chocolate chip..." "Ok, sure!" (before the LT could even finish the sentence.
So I happily obliged since I don't have to send all of the cookies into the office.
These are my absolute favorites and I am so excited that it's fall and pumpkin is back en vouge for the season!

(If you want some of these delicious bites for yourself, you can find the recipe here.)

246 Neighborhood Gathering

Our great neighbors across the street (who also happen to be in our ward) invited us over for a cookout this evening. They were feeding the missionaries, so they invited pretty much the whole street to come too.
One neighbor (who also is in our ward) has mad decorating skills and brought a huge chocolate chip cookie all decked out in red, white, and blue for a certain presidential candidate.
It was beautiful and delicious.
And the company was great too!

230 Family Fun Night

We haven't gone out and done anything fun together as a family for a while.
Dinner at Five Guys was a perfect solution.
YUM!

215 I Miss the Dry Heat

This is what happens to a cake in humidity. The cake is dry, but that frosting is a mess! I didn't even have it sealed tightly, but this Georgia humidity can mess everything up!!

131 Busy

Today was super busy. It involved a lot of baking. I attempted a pineapple upside down cake for an "Aloha" event tonight, and it involved revisiting the delicious pumpkin chocolate chip cookies that I was so obsessed with this past fall.
Why the cookies you ask? Well for reasons still not fully understood by me, the LT needs them for some sort of baking contest that is company is involved in. Apparently there is a family fun day event tomorrow night at the Airborne school. (We won't be able to attent because we have a Dr. appt for the DQ in Atlanta tomorrow) Every unit (brigade? company? office??) needs an entry, so I was volunteered. After making one batch, I asked the LT, do I need to make more?
"Uuhhh, yeah, if you can?"
"Did she (company commander) tell you to bring a lot?"
"Uuhhh, yeah..."
So it was back to the Kitchenaid for me!
(Oh, and the whole point of this picture is because I don't have this recipe printed and so I'm always running back and forth to the computer. I had bought this stand for the DQ's kindle so she could watch movies in the hospital, so I broke it out and pulled up the recipe on the tablet and voilà! Life was so much easier!)

51 Sweet Neighbors

Our neighbors brought us a King Cake tonight. I knew what a king cake was, but had never tried one.
Bean ran around the house tonight singing her excitement for dessert.
She was not disappointed!

38 Whatever it Takes

The LT has had some stuff at work in the works for a few months now. Nothing we can really talk about, but something we've been hoping/praying for fervently.
Things are progressing quite well, but nothing is a done deal yet.
Today, he was told he had to sign some paperwork relating to this big Hope.
His Major then informed him that he would not process any of his paperwork unless he got more cookies.
So guess what I did today?
Happy to do it.

24 Thanks Pinterest!

I certainly have never been much of a cook. I don't enjoy it and I think the food you get in a restaurant tastes WAY better.
That is until we moved here and there are NO good restaurants.
BUT I have found pinterest to be a great help and have found some great fast, easy, and tasty meals to feed my family!
Tonight: chicken chili.

23 Yum!

We have sincerely missed good Mexican food since moving to Georgia. And even good fast Mexican food. And we have especially missed Chipotle, the nearest one being in Atlanta.
Last week we found out that a new one was opening in Auburn, AL. It seemed weird to drive to another state and time zone for dinner, but we finally did tonight.
And it was SO worth it.
